White-On-White
Mini Sampler
(A Live Kit-Based Class)

The White on White Mini Sampler offers a calm, focused introduction to the world of whitework embroidery, distilled into a smaller, more accessible project. Worked as a simplified grid sampler, this design explores a curated selection of whitework techniques — such as pulled and drawn threads, Broderie Anglaise, Reticella, Casalguidi, and Hardanger — allowing you to experience how texture, pattern, and light interact on white fabric. Designed to be completed at a relaxed pace, this sampler is perfect for curious stitchers, confident beginners, or those wishing to dip a toe into whitework before committing to a longer course.

White on White Mini Sampler — a quiet introduction to texture, structure and stitch

Details…

aimed at:

CONFIDENT BEGINNERS

This course is well suited to confident beginners who are comfortable with basic hand embroidery and curious to explore whitework in greater depth. You don’t need prior experience of pulled or drawn thread techniques — everything is introduced carefully and methodically — but a willingness to work slowly, follow clear instructions, and enjoy a more thoughtful style of stitching will be helpful. If you love the idea of learning why stitches behave as they do, and of building skills steadily rather than rushing to a finish, you’ll feel very at home here.

EXPERIENCED STITCHERS

For experienced stitchers, this course offers the opportunity to deepen technical understanding, refine accuracy, and explore the subtle relationships between structure, tension, and light that define whitework embroidery. The grid sampler format allows you to revisit familiar techniques with fresh attention, while also engaging with less commonly taught methods such as Casalguidi and Reticella. This is a space for thoughtful study and quiet mastery — ideal if you enjoy immersing yourself in technique, expanding your repertoire, and creating a reference piece you’ll return to again and again.

Students are saying…

  • Excellent Artist and Teacher

Kelley’s classes are the best. I’ve taken two classes from her over two years. Her demonstrations are clear and easy to follow. She has perfected her on-line teaching style. I’ve found her to be kind and patient and she frequently throws in a little example or historic fact to keep things interesting.  My fellow students have ranged from beginners to advanced stitchers and I believe everyone has been happy with the instructions we’ve received.

  • Wonderful Goldwork

I took Kelleys Goldwork sampler course which covered all aspects of Goldwork and a few extras such as how to mount your work. A well designed course, very well delivered and a lot of fun. It has definitely improved my Goldwork skills! Kelley is enthusiastic and very helpful.

  • What a Brilliant Experience!

I've just finished the class portion of Kelley's Goldwork Sampler and I'm really sad it's over. I have done a number of 2 day classes in this technique over the last few years, but I found working in this manner (Zoom classes at fortnightly intervals over nearly a year, with video clips of the techniques available through the portal) meant that if you found there was something that didn't make sense later, you could check back, or more importantly, ask a question at the next lesson. I've picked up on a lot of tiny things that have led to some very satisfying improvements in the quality of my work, learned some really useful techniques, and got links to sources of otherwise hard to find equipment. (Especially useful as I'm located down under in New Zealand.) Thank you Kelly for a wonderful experience - I had a blast!
